About Us
Patrick W. Mause
After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in 1997, Patrick worked in public health and social service for several years before returning to the UofA for law school. He then worked for Lewis and Roca for several years doing defense work before opening his own practice in 2011. He now focuses on representing insureds in short- and long-term disability ERISA claims, insurance bad faith claims, and long-term care claims.
Since 2011, Patrick has represented clients against some of the biggest (and baddest) insurance carriers and administrators in the country. He has recovered millions of dollars on his clients’ behalf. Besides getting his clients the justice they deserve, his favorite part of his cases is figuring out the medical minutiae and then unravelling the insurance company’s nonsense theories. Patrick is highly respected in the disability and bad faith fields, and is often asked to co-counsel cases with other attorneys who need more horsepower on their side.
Patrick lives in Tucson. Outside the practice of law, he can often be found at UofA basketball games cheering (sometimes rather exuberantly) for the ‘Cats.
Patrick is admitted to practice law in Arizona.
McKean J. Evans
McKean joined the firm in 2026. He has spent his career handling cases involving insurance and ERISA-governed employee benefit claims. McKean’s favorite part about these cases is that they involve issues that matter to everybody. His clients come from all walks of life. He has represented tech executives, steel mill workers, doctors, software engineers, bankers, public sector workers, ministers, small business owners, and retirees.
McKean has received the designations “Super Lawyer” or “Rising Star” from Thompson Reuters every year since 2018. These accolades are given to less than five percent of attorneys in Washington State based on peer recognition and professional competence. He publishes the Seattle Insurance and ERISA Blog and is a frequent author and speaker on insurance and ERISA matters in the Seattle legal community.
McKean lives in Seattle. He grew up on the East Coast, where he met his now-wife, who was raised in the Pacific Northwest and talked him into following her back West with the help of a visit to the Cascades. After practicing law in Seattle for many years, McKean joined Patrick’s firm to further focus his practice on representing individuals in insurance and ERISA matters and to help the firm expand to Washington State.
When not practicing law, McKean is usually hiking or birding in beautiful Cascadia.
McKean is admitted to practice law in Washington State.
